Olympique de Marseille confirms and continues its great series of victories. This Sunday evening, as part of the 15th day of Ligue 1, the Marseillais won by a score of 4 goals to 2 on the pitch of FC Lorient.

Thanks to this success, Gennaro Gattuso’s men are in 6th place in the standings with a total of 23 points. A good omen before the trip to Brighton in the Europa League this Thursday.

On the other side, it is 16th place for the Merlus with 12 points. Romain Faivre’s partners are in a negative spiral with a series of 6 matches without a victory.

An intractable and clinical OM

Olympique de Marseille really wanted to continue their good momentum after their victories against Stade Rennais and Olympiques Lyonnais.

From the start of the meeting, the Olympians made things clear. Chancel Mbemba appears in the area and finds the net from the start of the game (1-0.2).

A few minutes later, it was Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who doubled the lead. Chancel Mbemba sends a cross from the right to the head of the Gabonese attacker who perfectly deceives Mvogo.

Lively, enterprising and inspired offensively, the Olympians had a great start to the match. Leonardo Balerdi scored the third goal of the match from a corner taken by Jonathan Clauss. An angry head that he easily propels into the Merlus cage (3-0, 33rd).

However, the Merlus did not give up and continued to play the offensive despite the score in favor of OM. Romain Faivre sounds the revolt shortly before the end of the first act with a two-step left shot.

While the momentum seemed to be going in the direction of the Lorientais, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will once again shower his opponents by scoring a goal full of composure (4-1.42nd).

A very lively second act

Upon returning from the locker room, the message sent by the Merlus is clear: this meeting is very far from over. Before the hour mark, it was a former Olympian who reduced the score. Benjamin Mendy receives a ball at the far post in the area and deceives Pau Lopez with a left-footed shot into the side net (4-2.53).

A goal which gives hope to Régis Le Bris’ players who will push to the end and leave nothing to the Marseillais but without breaking the Marseille barrier. Jonathan Clauss’ red card at the end of the match didn’t change much (80th). OM imposes itself and confirms its revival.
