“We are waiting for the final level of judgment before making a decision. We want to discuss it with those around him”. These were the words of Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli on Saturday evening, when he was, once again, questioned about the fate of Paul Pogba. It must be said that publicly, the Piedmontese team has always shown significant support for the 30-year-old midfielder, who tested positive for the doping substance DHEA after the match against Udinese at the very start of the season.
Earlier this week, the anti-doping prosecution also called for a four-year suspension for the former Manchester United player, which would practically mark the end of his career. If he wants to avoid such punishment, the French international will have to demonstrate that he ingested this substance unintentionally during his judgment. Which would drastically reduce this suspension.
Juventus no longer believes in it
But now the Daily Mail explains that Juventus has already taken the cards in hand in this matter. If the Italian big name supports his player in public; it’s very different behind the scenes. The newspaper explains in particular that the Italian club stopped paying the player’s salary, even though there was no court verdict. Juventus therefore saves around €660,000 per month and, according to the English publication, seems to have little hope regarding the court decision that awaits its midfielder.
The Old Lady’s decision-makers would thus be resigned and have already accepted the fact that it is very unlikely that La Pioche will succeed. The Turin management even suggested that it is rather a good thing to see Pogba away from the club at the moment, he who was notably seen in Abu Dhabi recently. The English newspaper indicates that, for his part, the 2018 world champion is following very strict training at home in his personal gym, and he has not lost hope of playing football again soon. That’s all we wish for him.
