Michel der Zakarian, the Montpellier coach, did not hide his anger towards the refereeing after the reception of the Racing club of Lens.
Video assistance or not, refereeing is regularly criticized. Most coaches are used to criticizing game directors, or directors, like Stéphanie Frappart who officiated Friday evening during Montpellier-Lens (0-0).
The performance of the referee and all of his colleagues was not to the taste of Michel der Zakarian. The coach of the Hérault team notably pointed out the tackle by Lensois defender, Kevin Danso, on Mousa Al-Tamari in the 12th minute of play.
“In Monaco, we get a red card. There, Danso makes a tackle from behind. If tomorrow Al-Tamari has a fracture they will hear me, I tell you! If we lose him on this tackle…”, declared Der Zakarian at a press conference for this match on the 15th day of Ligue 1.
“If Tamari has a fracture, they will hear me (…) it’s not possible to referee like that. The guys at VAR, it’s a scandal. They need to stop a little, with us”
