In a heavy inflationary context, OM will have to pay even more for the rent of the Vélodrome stadium.

The new agreement for the occupation of the Vélodrome by Olympique de Marseille must be voted on by the municipal council on December 15 and provides for an increase in rent from 6.5 to 8 million euros per year, over a period of three years.

Thanks to this agreement, the city of Marseille will receive eight million euros in fixed rent, compared to 6.5 million euros compared to the last contract and five million in 2017. », Confirms the town hall in a press release released this Saturday. “ I would like to thank Olympique de Marseille for this new agreement. The city and its club are inseparable », welcomes the first councilor Benoît Payan.

A dispute despite everything

In three years, we have increased the rent of the Stade Vélodrome by three million euros: this is extra money for the Marseillaises and the Marseillais and a fairer return on investment », adds the latter. If this increase is indeed the subject of an agreement between the club and the city of Marseille, a dispute remains ongoing regarding the rent deposits made available during the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 financial years marked by the health crisis . OM is demanding its annulment before the Marseille administrative court, which is due to deliver its verdict in the coming days.
