Before welcoming PSG in the Champions League, Dortmund conceded a defeat in the league against Leipzig.

Opponent of Paris SG, next Wednesday in the Champions League, Borussia Dortmund is not at its best currently. BVB was defeated at home this Saturday by a top competitor, RB Leipzig (2-3).

Complicated evening for Dortmund

This is the 3e setback of the season for the Terzic team on the national scene. The misstep conceded, however, is not infamous. Firstly because Leipzig is not just anyone, and also because the locals played outnumbered for 75 minutes of play.

It was Mats Hummels who saw red at the end of the first quarter of an hour of the game by mowing down Lois Openda in the position of last defender. Until the break, Borussia managed to hold off their opponent of the day, even managing to equalize in stoppage time. Niklas Sule set the record straight after Ramy Bensebaini scored against his side.

In the second half, Leipzig quickly regained the advantage thanks to Baumgartlinger (53e). And at the end of the game, Youssouf Poulsen made it 3-1. Kobel has multiplied the miracles on his line, notably against Xavi Simons (72e), to preserve the minimum of suspense. It was a good thing for him, because at the end of the match Niklas Fullkrug reduced the score to 2-3. And the final moments saw Borussia lay siege to the opposing goals but failed to save the draw.

Dortmund were certainly hoping for a much better result in order to prepare for the reception of the French champions. But there is nothing dramatic, especially since the “Schwarzgelben” will not have the obligation to win on Wednesday. As a reminder, they already have the ticket for the round of 16 in their pocket. Only the first place in the group is not yet assured.
