Spain will play its 10th and final match of the Euro 2024 qualifiers this Sunday evening at 8:45 PM against Georgia. A more or less inconsequential match since La Roja has already secured its ticket to Germany. However, it’s not the case for Lamine Yamal, who will officially become Spanish after this match, at least for the next 3 years.
Indeed, according to the law, a player must participate in at least 4 matches to be affiliated with a single nation for 3 years. This means that after the match against Georgia, Lamine Yamal will not be able to play for Morocco until 2026. This is reassuring news for La Roja, as it secures the short-term future of their young talent.
