Robert Lewandowski is starting to see his rating drop at Barcelona. Arriving last season from Bayern Munich in exchange for €50 million, the Polish striker perfectly met expectations by scoring 33 goals (and 8 assists) in 46 matches, in all competitions. But this season, the results are less famous.
In 17 games, the 35-year-old striker has only scored 8 times (4 assists). A less good performance which would worry the Blaugrana leaders. The situation is easy to understand: given his age and his evolving contract (Lewandowski receives €26 million in annual gross this season and €32 million next season), Barça would be ready to part ways with the Pole next summer to avoid paying very expensive for an aging player. Except that the main person concerned does not seem to want to leave Catalonia.
Lewandowski does not see himself as a coach… for the moment
In an interview given to the Club des Deportista relayed by Marcathe culé attacker still considers himself good for the service. “I still have that feeling and passion within me. I think I can still play football for three or four years, because I feel very good physically. I know we are Barcelona and everyone expects us not only to win, but also to score a lot of goals. Ready to enter the closed circle of forty-year-olds still working, Lewandowski also spoke about his post-career. And he does not close the door to a possible reconversion to the coaching profession. “It will be difficult to live without being a football player after my career. But being a coach…, I know it’s a very difficult job. I’m not sure I’m ready because you have to concentrate 100% on football. I’m telling you this now, but in five or seven years, I’m going to miss the locker room and the smell and that whole atmosphere, and I’ll be like, OK, maybe I can try.
