For once, Patrice Evra did not hesitate to express certain criticisms of his former training. A few days after Manchester United’s defeat against Newcastle (1-0), putting an end to the Mancunian club’s good series of three consecutive Premier League victories, the former French defender pointed out the attitude of a few players at the image of Marcus Rashford. Visibly annoyed by the recent performances of the English striker, the former French international (81 caps between 2004 and 2016) highlighted his lack of professionalism on the pitch.

“I was quite happy with the performance in the Champions League against Galatasaray. Everyone can make mistakes. But against Newcastle, it was unprofessional. I saw things, like attitude, where players didn’t even want to be on the field. Marcus Rashford is a winger. When I played left-back, I didn’t even ask my winger to come back. I remember Giggsy (Ryan Giggs editor’s note) at 39, even in training, I never saw him give up like that. He never gave up like that. I cannot accept these things. It’s necessary to work hard. You don’t need to be flashy”, growled the ex-Monegasque. These words resonate, according to information from the Manchester Evening News, to criticism from supporters who accuse the Englishman of a lack of energy and involvement when he loses the ball. Left on the bench against Chelsea, Marcus Rashford was content with a handful of minutes at the end of the game as the Red Devils returned to victory (2-1).
