While Paris Saint-Germain is one of the clubs interested in his situation, Mike Maignan is in negotiations with AC Milan to extend his contract.
Corriere della Sera takes stock of Mike Maignan’s situation at AC Milan. The French goalkeeper is in discussions with his club for a contract extension. The former Lille player is currently linked with the Rossoneri until 2026, but he would like to obtain a significant salary increase.
For the moment, Maignan receives 2.8 million euros per year, the salary he negotiated when he arrived from Losc in 2021. He would like to see this sum triple, or almost, to reach 8 million annual euros. As a reminder, Rafael Leao extended last summer to receive 7 million euros per year, not counting bonuses.
Bayern better placed in case of departure?
Maignan’s priority is to stay in Milan, where he feels good, and where he wants to assert himself as a leader. But if the negotiations were to fail, the situation of the French goalkeeper could change.
Just in case, some big clubs are on the lookout. Foot Mercato cited PSG as a potential destination for Maignan, which would have called into question the status of Gianluigi Donnarumma. But Corriere della Sera instead reports three suitors: Chelsea, Manchester United and especially Bayern Munich. The German club, which is preparing the succession to Manuel Neuer, would be the hottest avenue in the event of a departure for Maignan.
