Tottenham had a fantastic start to the Premier League season. Authors of an interesting transfer window and won over by the tactical ideas of Ange Postecoglou, Spurs had then been leaders across the Channel for many weeks. Ultimately, the north London club came back into line despite themselves. Coming out of a cataclysmic defeat against Chelsea at the beginning of November, Tottenham lost numerous executives and the former Celtic Glasgow coach experienced his first zone of turbulence.

Among those starters who were injured during the London derby, playmaker James Maddison was surely a bigger loss than the others. Guarantor of his team’s good offensive performance at the start of the season, the former Leicester player had 3 goals and 5 assists in 11 Premier League matches. Hit in the ankle, the 27-year-old thought he would be out for a few weeks but ultimately he could be out until February as he suggested in an interview with Amazon Prime : “It’s probably the longest (injury) I’ve had, if it lasts, say, three months, I’ve never really gotten past that. You know what it’s like to be injured: every day is hard, especially at Spurs. the training ground has a big window so the physio room overlooks the training ground perfectly, you watch all the guys training and getting ready for the match.»
