Known to be the most permissive championship, the Premier League seems determined to crack down more than usual.

But another trend is observed in England: referees are showing red cards like never before. Since the start of the season, no less than 31 players have been excluded after 14 days. This is already more than in the entire last season.

The English referees would have received instructions to be more severe than in the past.
