Highly criticized after his multiple recent errors, Gianluigi Donnarumma received support from an influential personality.
An expulsion after a poorly controlled outing on the Le Havre pitch on Sunday, a loose ball against Newcastle last week and a restart error leading to a goal against Monaco a few days earlier: in the space of three matches, Gianluigi Donnarumma has multiplied the blunders in the Paris Saint-Germain jersey.
This delicate period echoes several striking images in the Champions League, such as the errors made against Real Madrid or Bayern Munich, during these last two editions. Gianluigi Buffon experienced a similar situation. The legendary Italian goalkeeper was responsible for a big blunder against Manchester United in 2019. “Gigi” is therefore well placed to defend his compatriot “Gigio”.
