Last January, this story caused a stir in Spain. Ahead of the Madrid derby between Atlético and Real, a mannequin bearing the likeness of Vinicius Junior above a bridge near Valdebebas. Following their trial which took place in recent days, the Madrid public prosecutor’s office requested four years in prison for four Colchoneros supporters. The latter would belong to the ultra fringe of the “Frente Atletico”, a small group which identifies as far-right.

The acts with which they are accused are an offense of threats and another against fundamental rights. They will also have to give up joint compensation of 6,000 euros for the moral damage caused to the Brazilian winger who has, unfortunately, been too often targeted by racist acts against him since his arrival in Spain.
