But Madrid could now welcome the two best attackers in the world. One of them is Erling Haaland.
Kylian Mbappé is of course the name that has been most heavily linked to Real over the past couple of years, and with his contract ending in 2024, Los Blancos are likely to make him an offer. Relevo maintains that Mbappé remains Real Madrid’s priority next summer.
However, the Whites are also aware that Erling Haaland could be an option for them. The Manchester City star has let his camp, and therefore his agency, know that he still “dreams” of playing for Real Madrid and wants to “keep that option open”. Real Madrid reportedly have a release clause that they could activate for the Norwegian star.
The move also follows reports that the Real Madrid board are not unanimous in their desire to bring Mbappé to the club, with some believing that Haaland would be both less disruptive and would mesh better with Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo Goes. It remains to be seen how things play out, but it appears Mbappé’s decisions this summer will likely have consequences at the top of European football.
