The former trainer of Arnau Tenas was full of praise for the 22-year-old Spanish goalkeeper, transferred to PSG this summer.

The misfortune of some makes the happiness of others… Sent off this Sunday in Le Havre, following a completely botched foot trip, Gianluigi Donnarumma had to give up his place in the Parisian cage to Arnau Tenas. In the absence of Keylor Navas, injured, the Spanish goalkeeper played his very first minutes in the red and blue colors, he who arrived free this summer in Paris from Barcelona.

And Arnau Tenas largely contributed to the 0-2 victory of the reigning French champions in Normandy. The 22-year-old goalkeeper, still unknown to the general public, made a name for himself by making several decisive saves to keep his team in the match.

“The suit won’t be too big for him”

Aureli Altimira, who trained Tenas from 12 to 19 years old on the Barcelona side, was completely enthusiastic about the number 80 of PSG, believing that the latter has the shoulders to become the number one goalkeeper in the capital. “It was certain that he would respond to the challenge because he is a goalkeeper with qualities. And above all an impressive character (…) Everything we have worked with him for years has been in anticipation of this moment. We knew this day would come and that he was going to respond because he truly deserves it. (…) He has everything going for him. Naturally, we would like him to be a little bigger, but he is such a complete goalkeeper. He knows how to play with his feet, he is powerful in the air, he has a contagious personality for his teammates. He has always been very loved in the locker rooms he has been in.”confided Aureli Altimira to the microphone of RMC.

“He is a special goalkeeper he continued. I knew a lot of goalkeepers at the academy and in the first team with Pep Guardiola and Tito Vilanova. The goalkeepers came from all over Europe, from all over the world. And believe me, goalkeepers who know how to play perfectly with the right foot, the left foot… pfff… They can be counted on the fingers of one hand and believe me, Arnau is one of them. »
