Out of favor at Manchester United, former French international Raphaël Varane is likely to bounce back with a major Ligue 1 club.
Olympique de Marseille are interested in Raphael Varane, the experienced French defender from Manchester United. The future of the 98 world champion at Old Trafford has been unclear since Erik Ten Hag left him from the starting team. The person concerned is considering a new challenge elsewhere and a comeback in his country would not displease him.
Heading to OM for Varane?
According to Foot01, Olympique de Marseille would study the idea of betting on the former Lensois. There is competition from Bayern on this issue, but Marseille officials are hopeful of being able to achieve their goals and thus afford a high-class center back.
OM coach, Gennaro Gattuso, and sports advisor, Medhi Benatia, would be on the same wavelength on this subject, convinced that Varane still has a lot to offer despite his age (30).
As a reminder, Varane’s last season in the French championship dates back to the 2010/2011 financial year. It was under the colors of Sang et Or and just before his departure for Real Madrid. If he arrives at the Vélodrome, there is no doubt that he will be one of the most successful players to have defended the colors of the Marseille team.
