Real Madrid’s injury list continues to grow, this time with a defender.
Los Blancos already have seven injured players, including stars Eder Militao, Thibaut Courtois, Vinicius Junior and Aurelien Tchouameni, but they face another setback with Dani Carvajal ruled out with a calf problem.
The 31-year-old has stepped up his game this season, becoming one of Carlo Ancelotti’s stars in a constantly understrength squad. His outings down the right flank allowed the team to maintain a dangerous attack, while his defensive efforts matched his best performances.
However, the injury which forced him off at half-time of the 2-0 win over Granada means he will be out for more than a month, according to Diario AS, although others claim it could be only three weeks in the best case. In the first case, Carvajal would miss six matches against Real Betis, Union Berlin, Villarreal, Alaves, Real Mallorca and the Copa del Rey scheduled for early January. The objective is to ensure his return for the Saudi Arabian Super Cup, which will begin on January 10 against Atlético Madrid, but which could also be the occasion for a meeting with Osasuna or Barcelona if they qualify for the final.
Like last year, Real Madrid’s path to success will go through a series of absences…
