Real Madrid’s hopes of signing Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies in 2024 have suffered another setback.
The Whites are reportedly planning to sign a new left-back in the coming months, and Davies, 23, is said to be in their sights, with a view to a possible offer next summer.
Options regarding a January bid or an offer before the 2024/25 season remain on the table in Madrid, but Bayern are not actively looking to sell the Canadian international.
Previous reports claimed that the Bundesliga champions had started negotiations with Davies for a renewal of his contract, which expires in 2025.
The expiration of Davies’ contract represented a trump card for Real Madrid, should they opt for an extension, with Bayern forced to consider a transfer to avoid losing him for free in 2025.
Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel has confirmed the club’s desire to keep Davies long-term.
“ He’s our player and he’s a key player. He knows how much we appreciate him.”thundered Tuchel in comments relayed by Mundo Deportivo.
“For me, the length of a player’s contract doesn’t change anything. He plays regularly and does so at the highest level.
“I trust the sports management on this point. He’s still a very young player, we often forget him. He has room for improvement in all areas. »
