The new Santiago Bernabeu is about to be completed, but it is not unanimous.
The official inauguration of this pharaonic enclosure was due to take place later this month, but delays are expected to push the deadline back to 2024. Although it is aesthetically pleasing, concerns have been raised about some of the accessibility features of the new stadium, as journalist Paco Gonzalez explained to COPE’s Tiempo de Juego program.
Gonzalez explained that he has friends who are Real Madrid season ticket holders and they have expressed frustration that the new seats are incredibly narrow, which is uncomfortable, especially in comparison to stadiums like the Civitas Metropolitano which have very wide seats. Additionally, the new VIP boxes have resulted in limited toilet facilities, causing excessive delays for supporters.
Unfortunately for the latter, Real Madrid are unlikely to change these elements, even if some of them cannot be changed yet.
