Olympique de Marseille won (2-0) Sunday evening against Rennes. Although they did not shine in the game, OM was solid.
Olympique de Marseille took a little breath of air and confidence on Sunday evening, during the 14th day of Ligue 1. Everything was not perfect in the game, very far from it, such was the level of the match was mediocre, but the PhocĂ©ens will be satisfied with this success (2-0) acquired against Stade Rennais. After the victory against Ajax Amsterdam last Thursday, Gennaro Gattuso’s players had heavy legs but, fortunately for them, their evening visitors were in similar physical conditions.
OM struck quickly to take the lead. Iliman Ndiaye overtook the Breton defense on a one-two with Amine Harit and pushed Wooh to commit the irreparable in the area. Iliman Ndiaye joined him in the locker room for a sole on the ankle of Jeanuel Belocian shortly after (68th), to very likely deprive him of the next meeting.
The way is not yet there for Marseille, but to see things in a positive way, Gattuso’s squad can return to 7 points from the podium in the event of a victory in three days against Lyon. The Olympians are also still undefeated at home and have, once again, not conceded a single goal at home. The Rennais, now coached by Julien StĂ©phan, are unable to do so in Ligue 1 and are in 12th place, now overtaken by their evening tormentors.
