Jack Grealish’s future at Manchester City has been called into question since the arrival of Jeremy Doku from Stade Rennais.

The Belgium international joined Pep Guardiola’s side for €60 million on August 24 and he made an immediate impact at the Etihad Stadium.

Doku, 21, has started eight of the last ten Premier League matches, scoring two goals and providing four assists in that time, and he has also contributed to two Champions League goals.

Grealish, meanwhile, was one of Guardiola’s favorites during last year’s treble campaign but lost his place in the starting XI following the arrival of Doku.

The England winger has only started three league matches in 2023-24, but he remains focused on Man City and is still a key member of the team, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The transfer expert spoke on the subject in his exclusive column for CaughtOffside: “Eight months is a long time in football and a lot can change, but at this stage there is absolutely nothing negative when it comes to Jack Grealish’s situation at Man City.

“The club has integrated him into its future plans and is focusing on City.”

Grealish is yet to score in 14 appearances in all competitions this season, and has only provided two assists.

Although Doku has enjoyed an electric start to the season with Man City, Guardiola stressed that Grealish is still considered a key member of the first team.

In November, the former FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich coach admitted: “He’s one of the most loved guys in the locker room. He is a strong man who likes physical contact. He is very brave. It’s his game.

“We are very satisfied with his last matches and his mentality during training sessions. The first year and last year in particular, he was decisive. Every year he gets better.

“He has his feet on the ground and I love working with him. He is very sensitive and close to his family. We like it very much.
