His case has made England talk twice in recent months. Initially, Ruben Neves decided this summer to join Saudi Arabia at the age of 26 while several big names from across the Channel had been making eyes at him for several seasons. A choice which was contested while some accused the former Wolverhampton of having chosen money in abundance. A few months after his arrival in the Gulf, the Portuguese midfielder was once again talked about, this time in spite of himself. Clearly, in England, we persist and sign: Ruben Neves’ place is in the Premier League.

So, while Al-Hilal and Newcastle are owned by the same owner, many English people believed in a loan of the midfielder to the Magpies this winter. A rumor which has gained so much momentum that clubs across the Channel have stepped up to prevent player loans between two clubs which have the same owner. This Saturday, it was the former Porto man himself who decided to debunk the rumor sending him to the St-James Park side at the microphone of the BBC : “I am not going. I think these are rumors because of the club owner of course, and because I also played in England. There was interest in Newcastle before I came here but I’m really happy here, my family is really happy so I’m having a good time.» This should calm everyone in England.
