At the end of a spectacular match, Lens won (3-2) against Olympique Lyonnais this Saturday.

Victory was imperative for the RC Lens as for theOlympique Lyonnais this Saturday in Bollaert. After the slap received by Arsenal (6-0) in the Champions League, the Sang et Or were keen to continue their climb towards European places, they who remained in eight matches without defeat in Ligue 1. For their part, the Lyonnais began their new era after the departure of Fabio Gross, replaced by Pierre Sage for his very first match on the bench of a professional team.

O’Brien, Lyon’s savior

With notably Alexandre Lacazette And Rayan Cherki holders, the Lyonnais attack the match well and obtain a first big opportunity by Diego Moreira who does not find the target at close range. As during the victory in Rennes three weeks ago, it is Jake O’Brien who frees his team on a corner from Ernest Nuamah (0-1, 15th).

But the Irish defender finds himself 10 minutes later by offering Wesley Said one on one with Anthony Lopes, who could only touch the ball before seeing it finish in the back of his goal (1-1, 26th). At the very end of the first period, Lacazette was at the end of a nice Lyon movement but saw his recovery pushed back by Brice Samba.

A crazy end to the match

Returning from the locker room, Skelly Alvero commits a slight foul in the area and offers Lens a penalty which is transformed Przemyslaw Frankowski in force (2-1, 52nd). The end of the match is totally crazy, in a mix-up, O’Brien once again gives Lyon the advantage, but in the process, Frankowski deceives Lopes again with a cross shot from the left which gives the advantage back to the Northerners ( 3-2, 74th). OL pushed to equalize but Brice Samba repelled an attempt from Tagliafico 10 minutes from time. In the 90th minute, Florian Sotoca was sent off for a big foul on Tagliafico, leaving his partners at 10 for stoppage time.

Despite an end to the match largely dominated by Lyon, it was the Lensois who offered themselves a valuable victory in the race for European places at the end of a meeting full of twists and turns. Franck Haise’s men temporarily move up to 6th place while OL still haven’t got off the bottom of the standings.
