After multiple incidents of violence that have occurred across France in recent months, French football is still fueling the news in the worst possible way. On Saturday, the pre-match of the match between FC Nantes and OGC Nice was marked by the attack on a Nantes supporter.
While present in the streets of the city, this supporter was stabbed by a Nice fan who had traveled for the meeting. According to information from The Team And RMC Sporta group of people from Nantes had “moved” a car of Gym supporters who were inside.
It was at that moment that one of the individuals came out with a knife and attacked this member of the Loire Brigade. FC Nantes then communicated on its Twitter account during the evening, before announcing the death of the supporter.
“FC Nantes was saddened to learn that a Nantes supporter was fatally injured before this evening’s meeting, near Beaujoire. In circumstances which are the subject of an ongoing legal investigation, the 31-year-old collapsed, hit in the back. Despite the intervention of emergency services, the supporter could not be saved. The Public Prosecutor’s Office has announced that an investigation into intentional homicide has been opened. Numerous witness interviews are underway and will continue into the night. The Club can only deplore that a person lost their life in such circumstances. FC Nantes would like to express its most sincere condolences to the victim’s family and those close to them. »
