Author of a hat-trick on Thursday against Ajax Amsterdam, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang waited for his third goal in added time to let his joy burst forth.

Welcomed by the whistles of the Vélodrome, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang offered himself a brilliant revenge. The Gabonese indeed scored a hat-trick against Ajax Amsterdam, allowing Olympique de Marseille to overcome Ajax Amsterdam in added time (4-3) and secure their ticket for – at a minimum – the Europa League play-offs.

The former Stéphanois also waited for this third goal to do his usual somersault by way of celebration. After the first two goals, he did not show the slightest joy, even displaying a black look after his superb scissors, his second achievement of the evening. The hero of the day explained it after the meeting.

“I am a human person and you have to remain humble in these moments. I thank my teammates for making me work every day, for being with me and for the support I received with certain words that feel good in moments like this. I am very touched by this solidarity,” he confided to the microphone of RMC Sport 1, hoping that this evening would finally launch his season: ” I hope. I can only be happy. When we score, we are happy as an attacker.”
