Toulouse will be satisfied with it

Far from the madness of the victory against Liverpool, the TFC drew with Union Saint-Gilloise (0-0) at the Stadium, and is getting very close to the Europa League play-offs.

It’s not an evening that will be remembered. We were far from the furious madness that invaded the Stadium during the victory against Liverpool (3-2) three weeks ago. But Toulouse won a draw against Union Saint-Gilloise (0-0) which could bring the TFC closer to another great European poster next February.

A victory would have assured the Violets of continuing the adventure in the Europa League, but Carles Martinez’s team never managed to win this meeting. There was a first thrill with a blocked shot from Aron Donnum (8th), but the best opportunity was in favor of the Belgians, for the Algerian Mohamed Amoura (19th).

Toulouse almost in a barrage

In the second half, TFC did not hit the goal once (4 shots in total), and did not really push to get the three points, as if this 0-0 was enough for their happiness. He held on to little, because the USG had match points on several occasions, with heated situations in the Toulouse area (73rd, 89th).

With this point, Toulouse maintains its second place. First place is now officially locked by Liverpool, who avenged their defeat at the Stadium by winning 4-0 at LASK. But the TFC has a good chance of securing this play-off place: it will have to take a point in Austria in two weeks, or hope that Union Saint-Gilloise does not win against Liverpool. In this case, it is a duel against a Champions League winner to which Toulouse supporters will be entitled!
