Toulouse took a step towards the play-offs of the round of 16 of the Europa League by conceding a goalless draw against Union Saint-Gilloise this Thursday (0-0).

As the outcome of this group phase approaches, Toulouse set the table again this Thursday with the reception of Union Saint-Gilloise. Two weeks after a historic victory against the great Liverpool of Jürgen Klopp (3-2), Téfécé approached this meeting with full of confidence, in a Europa League which resembles an enchanted parenthesis in its season.

The two clubs parted with a score of parity during the first round, at the end of a match which the Toulouse residents had finished numerically inferior, on September 2, in Belgium. This second round was just as competitive. First pursuer of Toulouse in the ranking of this group, Union Saint-Gilloise had assets to put forward. But Téfécé found the ingredients to avoid the trap set by his opponent.

Not realistic enough in the last gesture, the residents of the Stadium did not manage to find the opening, but they had the merit of keeping their clean sheet. The visitors however dominated the second act, but Téfécé did not crack under the pressure. Toulouse is therefore getting closer to the play-offs for the round of 16 of this Europa League. A real success for the club’s great return to the European scene.
