Sevilla FC is imploding

Sevilla FC lost very big last night. Beaten by PSV Eindhoven at Sanchez-Pizjuan (3-2), the Andalusian club is already eliminated from the Champions League. To hope to see Europe again in the spring, he will have to win in Lens in two weeks, which would allow him to snatch 3rd place in Group B, synonymous with qualification for the Europa League, to the detriment of the Sang et Or. A new defeat which could, according to Marcacost the head (already) of Diego Alonso.

Everything started well, however, since Ramos (24th) and En-Nesyri (47th) gave their team a break in the lead. But everything was shattered after the expulsion of Lucas Ocampos, warned twice in 3 minutes, and who left his partners numerically inferior for the last half hour. A fatal end to the match since PSV completely reversed the trend by scoring through Saibari (68th), Gudelj against his camp (81st) and Pepi, author of a superb header (90th + 2) which made everyone crazy with joy club, qualified for the 8th.

Diego Alonso is already in the hot seat

The aftermath of defeat risks doing damage to Seville. The club is experiencing a very big institutional crisis. A shame when tomorrow, the last victory in the Europa League will be six months old. The victorious coach of this epic, José Luis Mendilibar, handed in his apron on October 9. Diego Alonso replaced him. After only nine matches in all competitions, the Uruguayan is already threatened. It must be said that his only victory in the Coupe du Roi against a D4 gives him little credit.

His days are numbered. VĂctor Orta, Monchi’s former right-hand man, who left by the back door this summer, has already made two mistakes in his choices, he who finally extended Mendilibar with lip service. Procrastination which takes its toll after a good third of the season. The Nervionenses are on the verge of European elimination and risk experiencing a season next year without continental competition. They occupy a worrying 15th place in La Liga, only 4 points ahead of Celta de Vigo, first in relegation.

An explosive sporting and political context

Those are the sporting setbacks. This time we enter the political aspect where everything turns out to be much more complex. Be careful, you have to hold on. On December 5, the general assembly will take place to elect the new president. The club’s former boss (2002-2013), JosĂ© Maria Del Nido, is one of the main shareholders and wants to be re-elected. He campaigned with smaller portfolios in order to gather sufficient weight and dismiss the one who succeeded him ten years ago: JosĂ© Castro Carmona.

Despite a 7-year prison sentence for corruption, the reason for his resignation in 2013, Del Nido believes that the current leaders are sinking the club. In addition to sporting results, finances are in danger. Moreover, the anger was heard yesterday at the exit of the stadium. Some supporters even verbally attacked Carolina Alés, shareholder and member of the current management, forcing the club to react. It is in the face of this lack of legitimacy that Del Nido senior is trying to get elected.

The shareholder war turns into infanticide

Yes, you read “father” correctly because he will most likely be opposed… to his son, a certain José Maria Del Nido Carrasco (phew!). The latter has been angry with his father for many months. He will be the other main candidate to take the reins of Sevilla FC since he is the current vice-president of José Castro Carmona, who will not run again. “If the vote is clean, there will not be enough actions to defeat us”, warns the father in an atmosphere of daggers drawn. It feels like it came straight out of an episode of Succession.
