Olympique Lyonnais fired Fabio Grosso this Thursday. To replace the Italian coach, a former OM manager will have the last word, in the person of David Friio.

Arrived on September 18, 2023 on the bench of Olympique Lyonnais, replacing Laurent Blanc, Fabio Grosso is already about to leave. The management of the Rhone club told him on Wednesday evening that they no longer counted on him. While Pierre Sage will play temporary duty for one to three matches, OL are already hard at work finding a successor to the 2006 world champion with Italy. And it was a brand new arrival who was entrusted with this mission.

Having just left Olympique de Marseille to regain the position of sporting director of OL, David Friio will therefore have the honor of choosing the new coach of the Goneas announced RMC this Thursday. It remains to be seen who he will be able to find for a rescue mission which promises to be very complicated. Dead last in Ligue 1, Lyon has so far only won one of its last twelve league matches (0-1, against Rennes, November 12). Currently four points (with one game in hand) behind Lorient, OL will have to work hard to try to finally launch their season.

Three complicated matches

This Saturday, Alexandre Lacazette and his partners will travel to Lens, then they will continue with another trip for the postponed match against OM. Finally, they will host Toulouse on December 10. A marathon that OL will try to negotiate as best they can.
