Real Madrid striker Rodrygo refused to talk about his clash with Lionel Messi for the national team when questioned by journalists.

During a chaotic 2026 World Cup qualifying match between Brazil and Argentina last week, the Madrid star found himself at the heart of a heated altercation with Inter Miami’s strongman , with well-chosen words exchanged between the two men.

According to some sources, the Brazilian striker accused Argentina of “behave like cowards”, to which Messi replied: “We are the world champions, how can we be cowards? Be careful what you say“. However, Rodrygo refused to fan the flames, telling reporters he preferred not to speak out on the incident.

Speaking to the Spanish press after the Champions League victory, Rodrygo responded to a question about the incident in Brazil by saying : “I can’t talk about it. Madrid stops me.” The young man then burst out laughing and walked away, leading us to wonder about the conversations that took place behind the scenes with the Madrid hierarchy.

Rodrygo’s comments came after he was questioned by journalists following Real Madrid’s impressive fifth consecutive Champions League victory last night. Los Blancos won 4-2 against Napoli, with Rodrygo opening the scoring and playing a leading role. The 22-year-old has had a promising start to the season, helping the Madrid side pick up 35 points so far.
