While Barça wants to extend the loan of the Portuguese right-back who is shining in Catalonia, Manchester City has set its price.
João Cancelo, on loan from Manchester City to FC Barcelona, has established himself as a key player in Xavi’s squad. The Portuguese right-back, who has already scored three goals in 16 matches in all competitions this season, was notably decisive on Tuesday in the Champions League against FC Porto (2-1), scoring a goal and delivering an assist to destination of his compatriot João Félix.
According to information from Sport, Barça wants to extend Cancelo’s loan until 2025, with a compulsory purchase option of 30 million euros. Manchester City, for its part, would demand at least 50 million euros for the permanent transfer of the player, who is under contract with the Cityzens until 2027.
The two clubs are therefore still far from an agreement, but Barça’s desire to recruit Cancelo is clear. The Portuguese full-back, who is 29 years old, is a versatile and offensive player, who can bring a lot to the Catalan team.
