Varane unwanted near his ex

French defender Raphaël Varane is likely to return to one of his former clubs in the winter transfer window.

Manchester United defender Raphaël Varane has been offered to Real Madrid. A comeback at home would therefore be looming for the former French international.

No return to sender for Varane

According to Spanish media Ok Diario, emissaries mandated by United have invited Real Madrid to make an offer for their former player.

The 2018 world champion has been informed of this initiative and is open to a return to Madrid. Last March, he declared: “ I will end my career at Real Madrid, United or Lens.”

However, Real have no plans to re-sign the Frenchman, who is in his third season with United. If he lacks solutions in defense, Real cannot cover Varane’s €11 million salary and prefers to focus on younger targets. In addition, coach Carlo Ancelotti, even if he appreciates the former French international, is fully satisfied with the center backs he currently has at his disposal.
