Almost two months after their victory in Naples (2-3), Real Madrid did it again on Wednesday evening, at home, as part of the 5th day of the Champions League group stage (4-2).
Qualification for the round of 16 of the C1 was already acquired for Real Madrid. However, Carlo Ancelotti’s men were keen to do well on Wednesday evening, when they hosted Napoli in the Champions League group stage. Jostled by their visitors, the Merengue ended up winning with authority (4-2). In the other Group C match, Braga, reduced to ten, managed to save the point from a draw against Union Berlin (1-1).
At the Bernabeu, things started badly for Madrid who conceded the opener, the work of Simeone for Naples (0-1, 9th). But immediately, the locals equalized through Rodrygo (11th) who was then imitated by Bellingham (2-1, 22nd). Back from the locker room, Zambo-Anguissa brought Naples back up to par, thanks to a missile from the right (2-2, 47th). Then the two teams neutralized each other, until Real passed the third through Paz (3-2, 84th), then the fourth in stoppage time thanks to Joselu (4-2, 90th+4).
Braga, the precious point
A success which allows the Merengue to establish their domination in group C, with now five victories in five matches and eight units ahead of their victim of the evening, also second. As for Braga, he was therefore able to save a small but very precious point. First reduced to ten following the direct red for Niakaté (30th), then trailing following Gosens’ goal for Union Berlin (0-1, 42nd), the Portuguese club managed to equalize at the start of the second period thanks to Djalo (1-1, 51st).
This final draw allows Braga to save its third place synonymous with the Europa League, with two points ahead of its evening opponent. On December 12 he will go to Naples, while Berlin will host Real.
