While Olympique Lyonnais is still bottom of Ligue 1, Fabio Grosso sees his situation increasingly weakened.
After unlocking its victory counter in Rennes just before the international break, Olympique Lyonnais relapsed this Sunday. Beaten sharply by Lille at home (0-2), OL remains stuck at the bottom of the ranking, in a bottom place which increasingly worries observers.
In this context, Fabio Grosso does not escape criticism. The choices of the young Italian technician are singled out, such as his use of Alexandre Lacazette, his way of managing Rayan Cherki or his coaching during meetings. Can Grosso leave Lyon in the short term? The hypothesis of being sidelined this winter has gained weight. And to replace him, a name would benefit from a certain rating: a certain Bruno Genesio.
Stéphane Guy, columnist for After Foot, believes that Genesio’s return to Lyon would be ideal. “ I would be Lyon, I would immediately look into Genesio“, he said on RMC. “ Genesio’s return to Lyon would look good. They were inspired, those who insulted Genesio! Was he in a situation of failure? It depends on where you find the failure situation. Genesio’s record in Lyon seems entirely defensible to me. A good coach is someone to whom you entrust a group of players and who gets the most out of them. Genesio leaves because he is rotten by Lyon supporters“, concluded Stéphane Guy.
Given Genesio’s image in Lyon, it is not sure that this idea will delight some of the club’s supporters.
