OL, a crazy winter transfer window in preparation

If the DNCG were to lift the sanctions taken against it, Olympique Lyonnais could have a large envelope with a view to strengthening itself during the next winter transfer window.

OL are not out of the woods… After winning their first match of the season in Rennes (0-1), just before the international break, Les Gones fell back into their trap this weekend, against Lille (loss 0-2). Last in the championship with only 7 points on the clock after 12 contested days – the Lyonnais have a match in hand, against OM – the Rhone club hopes to be able to strengthen this winter to avoid disaster at the end of the year.

Yes, but there you have it, OL is still in the eye of the DNCG, which last summer forced the Lyon club to regulate its payroll and transfer compensation. A sanction still in force but which could be lifted in the coming hours. Indeed, the residents of Groupama Stadium have a meeting with the financial police of French football this Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. to try to convince them to lift these sanctions.

€50 million to strengthen this winter

And in the event of a green light given by the DNCG, Olympian decision-makers would intend to strengthen themselves considerably during the winter transfer window. According to information from the daily L’Equipe, John Textor would consider making available a budget of 50 million euros to recruit at least four new elements.

But the DNCG still needs to lift the sanctions. Which is not yet won even if within the Rhone management optimism reigns after having sold players for almost 90 million euros this summer. As a reminder, Bradley Barcola joined PSG for 45 million euros (plus 5 million bonuses), Castello Lukeba signed Leipzig for 34 million euros, while Romain Faivre left for 15 million euros.
