Victim of a complete rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament of the right knee and an associated injury to the external meniscus on November 20, Gavi was operated on this Tuesday. Barça confirmed it.

While he struggles to be sharp offensively, FC Barcelona experienced a big blow during the last international window. Called up with the Spanish selection, Gavi was seriously injured on November 20, during a match between Spain and Georgia (3-1). A complete rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament of the right knee and an injury associated with the external meniscus which ended the young midfielder’s season. A week later, the latter had surgery.

With success, FC Barcelona confirmed this Tuesday, while his protégé took to the pool table early in the morning. As reported Mundo Deportivo, the footballer arrived early at the Barcelona hospital, accompanied by his parents, his sister and his agent, without forgetting the Barça doctor, Doctor Richard Pruna. The media added that it was Doctor Joan Carles Monllau, specialist in orthopedic and trauma surgery, who carried out the procedure. The latter has also already seen other Blaugrana elements pass through, such as Philippe Coutinho and the double Ballon d’Or, Alexia Putellas.

Suture at the meniscus

For its part, FC Barcelona sent an official press release to confirm that the operation had been successful regarding the tear of the cruciate ligament in question and that a suture had been carried out at the level of the meniscus. Gavi will now rest, recover and embark on a very long period of fitness.
