Long led by Newcastle at the Parc des Princes and virtually 3rd in their group, PSG equalized in the 98th minute on a penalty from Kylian Mbappé. The Parisians are 2nd and can even finish first by winning in Dortmund on the last day.
PSG came very close to disaster on Tuesday evening when Newcastle came to the Parc des Princes. Led for a long time by Newcastle, the Parisians were then third in their Champions League group behind Dortmund and the Magpies, two weeks before concluding in the den of BVB. At the end of the suspense, an equalizer in the 98th minute, on a penalty from Kylian Mbappé, allowed Luis Enrique’s team to return to second, with still the possibility of finishing at the top of this group by winning at Signal Iduna Park. Even if a draw for PSG could be fatal in the event of a victory for Newcastle!

Not very inspired at the start of the match, the Ligue 1 leaders initially faltered midway through the first period. Gianluigi Donnarumma poorly repelled a long shot from Miguel Almiron and Alexander Isak opened the scoring (24th). Even if the equalizer came very, very late, in a rather controversial manner – because the VAR could very well have not reported a ball touched by the hand by Valentino Livramento at the end of added time -, the Rouge et Bleu deserved their result.
The Ligue 1 leaders had and missed plenty of chances. Ousmane Dembélé was notably unsuccessful on several occasions in front of Nick Pope (56th, 82nd) and Bradley Barcola, who had just come on, shot the English goalkeeper at point blank range (65th). Achraf Hakimi, for his part, could easily have obtained a penalty after being cut down in the opposing area (69th), and Mbappé missed a huge double opportunity as the end of regulation time approached (87th). One of the final Parisian offensives therefore allowed PSG to avoid a terrible situation.
