Neymar showed his appreciation for his compatriot Rodrygo, who scored a sublime goal against Cadiz.
Rodrygo starred in Real Madrid’s 3-0 victory over Cadiz on Sunday, scoring twice and providing an assist for Jude Bellingham.
The Brazilian striker scored the opening goal with a sublime individual effort and then demonstrated incredible dribbling skills to double his team’s lead. On the second goal, he got rid of four Cadiz defenders and mystified one before finding the back of the net.
The 22-year-old’s second goal caught the attention of his compatriot Neymar, who was watching the match on television. The Al-Hilal star, currently unavailable due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury, appreciated the Los Blancos star’s effort by posting a video of the goal – which he took from his television set – on his Instagram story with the caption “Joga Muito,” which roughly translates to “Well done.”
By winning Sunday’s match, the former Santos player equaled Cristiano Ronaldo’s La Liga record. The winger is now involved in three goals in two consecutive matches for Real Madrid in La Liga, a feat which has only been achieved by two players in the 21st century. Gonzalo Higuain has done it once, while the Portuguese superstar has done it seven times.
With this 3-0 victory, Carlo Ancelotti’s team have now overtaken Girona and taken first place in the table. Girona, however, has a game in hand and is only one point behind the giants. They will face Napoli on Wednesday in the Champions League.
