A former top Man United striker says the English club would be making a big mistake by parting ways with Anthony Martial.
Former Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov says he is a big admirer of Anthony Martial. And, for this reason, the Bulgarian urged United not to sell the Frenchman.
Berbatov still believes in Martial
The French international is currently strongly expected to leave MU and join Fenerbahçe Istanbul. For Berbatov, it would be a real mistake to let him slip away. He told Betfair: “I wish he would stay. I played with Anthony in Monaco and I know he has the ability to be better than he shows. The only thing he has to do is not get injured and he has to know that the manager trusts him.”
Berbatov still encouraged Martial to question himself. “Everyone knows he doesn’t work as he should. He is not using his quality correctly and he is having difficulties because of it. He needs to be shaken up a bit and there are times when he needs to push hard and change his game. He needs to do something more. When you’ve been at a club for a long time, you rest on your laurels. Every now and then you have to challenge yourself and the people around you have to wake you up and say, ‘Wake up, do more and bring it to the team’.”
