This Sunday, late in the afternoon, the Premier League offered us a duel between two sick teams. Indeed, in a revamped Goodison Park, Everton hosted Manchester United. The Toffees, who received a ten-point penalty following a non-compliance with the rules imposed by the Premier League concerning financial fair play, were seeking revenge on the Red Devils who had been sluggish since the start of the season and who were pointing in a worrying eighth place at kick-off. In the end, it was the latter who made short work of their opponents of the day. From the 3rd minute of play, the Mancuniens took the advantage thanks to a sensational acrobatic goal from Alejandro Garnacho (0-1, 3rd).

Stunned, Sean Dyche’s flock tried to react but the young Kobbie Mainoo (18 years old), impressive this Sunday in the midfield, prevented McNeil from putting the two teams back on level terms after half an hour of play. Mersey club was poorly paid after an encouraging first act, Erik Ten Hag’s band returned to the locker room having scored on their only shot of the first period. In the second half, Manchester United took off thanks to a very good Anthony Martial. Provocative, the OL-trained player caused a penalty which Marcus Rashford converted just before the hour mark (0-2, 56th). Finally, the French striker completed his team’s success by deceiving Pickford with a clever lob (0-3, 75th). With this precious success, Manchester United climbs to sixth place and escapes the Everton trap brilliantly.
