While owner Frank McCourt once again denied the rumors around OM, Matthias Manteghetti, the Canal+ journalist who announced the sale of the Marseille club in 2021, no longer has any information on this subject.

Almost three years later, there is absolutely nothing… Following in the footsteps of Thibaud Vézirian on his YouTube channel, journalist Matthias Manteghetti, then at Canal+, announced the sale of OM to investors from the Middle East, in February 2021, giving many details. We thus learned that the amount of the operation, facilitated by President Emmanuel Macron, was 480 million euros and that Luis Campos was perhaps part of the project…

If Thibaud Vézirian assures that Frank McCourt is still on the verge of selling Olympique de Marseille, Matthias Manteghetti, recently interviewed by SportMedTV, easily assumes that he no longer has any information on this subject. “I have no more information whatever happens”, affirms the journalist based in the Marseille city, who absolutely does not want to get back into this issue. “Everything but that”, he laughs.

Matthias Manteghetti therefore has no connection with the announcement of the sale of OM made by his former colleague David Berger on the set of C+, at the beginning of November: “If it happens tomorrow or in a year, it will have nothing to do with my information, so I will have no glory in the fact that it happens tomorrow or in several months or several years. I just hope as a fan that it will happen one day, and I take it more like a fan”.

A very experienced journalist, commentator on the encrypted channel in 1996, David Berger apparently took up unverifiable information about a possible sale of OM and, since then, no other journalist (within the Canal group and mainstream media) supported this trend. Frank McCourt even told Florent Germain, RMC’s correspondent in Marseille, that no sale was on the agenda.
