Fallers of Senegal in the round of 16 of the U17 World Cup, the Bleuets were under the threat of an appeal from the Lion Cubs of Teranga.

During the first phase of the competition, the Tricolores relied in particular on the young Yanis Issoufou, who took part in the CAN U17 qualifiers with Niger – qualifiers also qualifying for this 2023 World Cup.

According to Fifa regulations, the person concerned could not defend the colors of two different selections in the same context – so the Bleuets were at the mercy of a complaint, which nevertheless had to be filed according to a strict deadline.

Fifa having reiterated this last imperative, the Senegalese announced this Friday evening that they were finally giving up filing an appeal against the French. Jean-Luc Vannuchi’s men will therefore indeed face Uzbekistan in the quarter-final this Saturday morning in Indonesia (from 9:30 a.m. French time).
