Four days before a crucial C1 match against Newcastle, PSG did not fail this Friday against Monaco, opening the 13th day of L1 (4-2).
Returning from the international break, the Parisians had everything to fear from this clash against the ASM, this Friday evening at the Parc des Princes. Against Nice in this same configuration, four days before their debut in the Champions League, Luis Enrique’s men had suffered a strange disappointment two months earlier on this same pitch (2-3). In this match at the top, Monaco was able to keep up the comparison for a good period – taking advantage of a blunder at the foot of Donnarumma to respond with Minamino (1-1, 22e) at the opening of Ramos’ opportunistic score a few minutes earlier (1-0, 18e). However, his pugnacity was undermined before the break by a clumsiness from Magassa in front of Dembélé which was heavily sanctioned. Five goals, a first this season
In the second half, Dembélé – credited with his very first goal with PSG (3-1, 70e) – and Vitinha (4-1, 72e) ensured the victory of theirs by striking blow after blow. And Kolo Muani allowed himself to have the last word in added time (5-2, 90e+6) while Balogun had a time reduced the gap (4-2, 75e). For the first time this season, Paris will have found the fault five times, pushing back its evening opponent, third in the standings, six lengths away – Nice, second, trailing four points while awaiting the Sunday reception in Toulouse. Obviously a good omen before hosting Newcastle in C1 next Tuesday.
