This summer, Karim Benzema created a small earthquake for Real Madrid. The French striker decided not to extend and go to Saudi Arabia. A big blow for Casa Blanca who did not expect to lose their star so early when their plan was to quietly replace him next season with Kylian Mbappé or Erling Haaland. But the departure of KB9 did not move Real Madrid. To the great dismay of the club’s supporters who did not want to spend a whole season with Joselu (33 years old) as the only striker.
And yet, with Carlo Ancelotti who never stopped repeating that he was satisfied with his squad, the Merengues therefore began their season with a former RCD Espanyol player as their only offensive solution. Obviously, this start of the season showed that Real Madrid could not last a whole season in these conditions despite the XXL form of Jude Bellingham who has played the role of offensive savior since the start of the season (13 goals in 14 matches). Faced with this offensive dependence, and inevitably with the headache of negotiations to bring in one of the stars (Mbappé, Haaland) this summer, Real Madrid has activated an avenue for the winter transfer window.
An interesting profile
According to information from Globo, Real Madrid is eager to recruit Santos nugget Marcos Leonardo. The 20-year-old striker, author of 21 goals and 4 assists in 44 matches, was close to joining Roma this summer already. He caught the eye of José Mourinho. But Santos had been too greedy and the transfer had not happened. Finally, the player could well leave his club this winter and wishes to quickly join Europe. The Brazilian media specifies that he is now in the shortlist for the position of number 9. Contacts already existed several weeks ago but this seems to have accelerated.
The Brazilian U20 international has set only one condition for his next club: being able to play the Olympic Games in Paris this summer in addition to being obviously important for his next team. In the Premier League, Arsenal and Newcastle are also interested in him. But Marcos Leonardo also has a strong argument for Real Madrid. Indeed, he is represented by Rafaela Pimenta who is none other than the agent of a certain… Erling Haaland. She had recently confirmed that her player was ready to leave and that he already had an agreement with Santos. And in a world of football business where one transfer can facilitate another, signing Marcos Leonardo could also allow Real Madrid to afford Erling Haaland later… Who knows?
