After Javier Ibalta, the football director who left in September after the violent meeting on the 18th with groups of OM supporters held at the Robert Louis-Dreyfus center, David Friio packed his bags and left the Provençal city.

“Olympique de Marseille and David Friio have decided, by mutual agreement, to end their collaboration”we can read Thursday in the brief press release published by the Marseille club.

David Friio, 50, had held the position of sporting director for almost a year and a half after having fulfilled the functions of recruitment manager (September 2020 – March 2021) and those of technical director (March 2021 – June 2022).

The Franco-Italian, 140 Ligue 2 matches to his credit and occasionally Christophe Josse lookalike, should give way to Medhi Benatia, 36 years old. The former Morocco international and player agent would arrive as an advisor with the status of service provider.
