Every year it starts again. Manchester United is disappointed with its season, the contribution of its recruits, the impact of its managers. And so decides to change everything. We are only in November, and yet it already appears that a new major sweep will be carried out next summer, as reported by Manchester Evening News. Already about the players whose contracts are coming to an end. This is the case of goalkeeper Tom Heaton (37 years old) and defender Jonny Evans (35 years old), who returned for freelance work this summer.
There is also the case of loaned players, such as Brandon Williams (Ipswich Town) and Alvaro Fernandez (Girona), and young people lacking playing time at MU, such as Shola Shoretire, Will Fish and Joe Hugill. Then there are the players on loan to Manchester United, like Sofyan Amrabat, who is currently struggling to acclimatize to the Premier League (and for whom MU has a €20m purchase option from Fiorentina), and Sergio Reguilon, who belongs to Tottenham.
Big names involved
Added to all these uncertainties are the big files. We obviously think of Jadon Sancho, sidelined by Erik ten Hag, of Mason Greenwood, loaned to Getafe, of Anthony Martial, who no longer really plays, of Donny van de Beek, who must regret the day he signed at MU, and more recently, at Raphaël Varane, who would not be accepted in the event of a good offer. We could therefore witness all of his departures, perhaps even as early as January for some.
Erik ten Hag has proven that he doesn’t play sentimental with the transfer market. From his first transfer window, he saw 12 players leave the club, and he also asserted his authority with the assumed departure of Cristiano Ronaldo. The problem is that the money spent on recruitment has not borne fruit. Manchester United, helped by the arrival in the capital of Jim Ratcliffe, should further shake up the market this summer…
