Djibril Cissé is convinced that his quality of speed would have allowed him to be even more efficient in the current era than when he was a player.
During his career, which lasted from 1999 to 2018, Djibril Cissé scored 282 goals in all competitions. For his part, Kylian Mbappé crossed the 300 mark before the age of 25. As for Erling Haaland, at 23 years old, he has already found the net 280 times.
The former Olympique de Marseille striker would have liked to play at the same time as the two prodigies of modern football. “Today, the defenses are taking a little more risks in restarts, playing a little higher and a little more on the ball. With my speed, I could have done some damage. It would have been fun to face players like Kylian Mbappé or Erling Haaland to gauge my level”confided the native of Arles during an interview given to Eurosport.

Djibril Cissé believes that he would have had the level to perform currently. “I’m not really the type to worry about asking myself: ‘Would I have cost so many or so many millions today?’ Afterwards, on a football level, I would have had the qualities to perform today. I definitely think I would have had a blast,” imagine the ex-striker, who has just released a biography entitled “My life as a footballer”.
