On August 3, 2017, the history of PSG changed. Star of world football and star of FC Barcelona, Neymar left Catalonia to join Paris. The Brazilian, who wanted to emerge from the “shadow” of Lionel Messi to win the Ballon d’Or, signed for the modest sum of 222 million euros for the capital club. An XXL investment, still the biggest transfer in the history of football, which should allow QSI to finally win the Champions League, the title coveted since the start of the project. But 6 years later, the failure was bitter. PSG did not win the C1 and Neymar did not mark the club as much as he should.
Of course, the Brazilian international (128 caps, 79 goals) has delighted the Parisian public at the Parc des Princes many times. But his Parisian adventure was too marked by extra-sporting problems and above all by incessant injuries. So this summer, when he left PSG for Al-Hilal, Neymar left a great taste of unfinished business despite his 118 goals and 77 assists in 173 matches under Parisian colors. Because during his 6 years in France, the 31-year-old striker experienced too many injuries: 741 days of unavailability in total. That’s a little more than two years (out of six spent in Paris) without playing. Since his arrival at Barça, he has had 29 injuries and has missed 140 official matches (including 114 at PSG). Too much for the supporters or even the media, who also denounced his lifestyle. Because Neymar is known to be a party animal, not always serious about his diet and his nights out.
A fracture detected during the medical examination
But has this healthy lifestyle really had an impact on his numerous injuries at PSG? Not really. Not at all even according to information from The Team. The French daily thus revealed that Neymar had signed… injured for Paris Saint-Germain. Doubts about the Brazilian’s right foot already existed during the medical examination and in reality, the doctors had detected a stress fracture in the fifth metatarsal. However, Paris still signed the contract. But to treat the injury, it was necessary to operate immediately on the native of Mogi das Cruzes. Problem, difficult for PSG to announce, after having spent €222 million, that its star was not going to be available for many weeks.
PSG thought that this stress fracture would not get worse over time as it might. But unfortunately for the capital club, and especially the player, this was not the case and his serious injury against Strasbourg was the beginning of the end. A fracture in the metatarsal precisely… These revelations should therefore still cause a lot of talk, particularly among Parisian supporters, who had already pointed out the failings of the Parisian management and the decisions deemed incomprehensible around Neymar. Now in Saudi Arabia, the 31-year-old is still away from the field for a good while after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament.
