Erik Ten Hag and his club Manchester United are reportedly looking to attract a captain from Bayern during the January transfer window.

Seasoned Bayern Munich striker Thomas Müller is in Manchester United’s crosshairs.

Ten Hag and Manchester want experience

According to BILD, it is not certain that Muller will sign a new contract with Bayern. Its current lease with the Bavarian giant expires next June. In the event of separation, Müller wishes to continue participating in the Champions League. The 34-year-old has no plans to accept offers from Saudi Arabia or Major League Soccer.

Müller’s priority is to stay at Bayern Munich and finish his career there. But Manchester United could renew their interest. Last winter, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag tried to sign Müller, but Bayern blocked him at the time.

Muller in the footsteps of Schweini

If this transfer were to materialize, Muller would follow in the footsteps of his former teammate Bastian Schweinsteiger. The latter also chose the Red Devils for the last stage of his career after having defended the colors of Bayern for more than a decade.
