Former French international, Johan Micoud, is not at all convinced by what Kylian Mbappé is showing at the moment.
In his last two matches played, club and selection combined, Kylian Mbappé was decisive nine times. He scored 6 goals and offered 3 assists. An exceptional performance which, however, does not convince everyone. Some people always have things to say about the Bondynois. This is particularly the case for Johan Micoud.
“Mbappé can do so much more in content”
The ex-French international joined the Evening team after the Blues’ historic match against Gibraltar. Mbappé was amazing there, but for this former player, he doesn’t do enough on the pitch. “300 goals in a career, obviously, is significant compared to his age. That means he becomes a scorer, but I would like to see him more in matches and in content. I join Luis Enrique in his outing against Reims, where he says that he expects more from him in content. Compared to what he could do just a few months ago.”
For the 2000 European champion, Mbappé now only thinks about improving his statistics rather than being useful to his teams. “Is it a real desire on his part to stay only in the stats and be a real scorer? Like a center forward who plays on the left. I feel like he’s drifting towards that.”
Mbappé is not a creator. But, in Micoud’s eyes, he would benefit from being one given his talent. “But he can bring so much more into the game. With his outbursts during a match. He scares the opponent.”
